The People’s Movement creates eco-hip footwear and accessories that stand for reduction of single-use plastic.
As part of MOVMT, also known as The People’s Movement, co-founders Mark Wystrach and Kevin Flanagan have made it their mission to “create stylish eco-conscious footwear, shirts and accessories that stand for the fight against single-use plastics. The brand was born from the desire to create shoes and accessories for friends that reflect a passion for clean design and a clean environment.
The MOVMT stands for ideas that lead to positive change and helps transform today’s most pressing problems into tomorrow’s solutions. The company uses organic, recycled and repurposed materials wherever possible and are constantly in search of the better option. Some of the eco-friendly features include organic cotton canvas, water based glues, natural dyes, and nickel free eyelets.
Additionally, the brand’s Clean Act Collection takes plastic bags polluting the island of Bali and California and “upcycles” them into reusable totes and fabrics for their shoes.
With every pair sold from the Clean Act Collection, MOVMT donates $1 to the Plastic Pollution Coalition, a group dedicated to stopping plastic pollution and its toxic impacts on humans, animals and the environment.
“It’s not just where you are going, but how you get there that counts. Believe in what you wear and make sure it stands for something.”
